If so then maybe the inability to identify two bullets from the .35 Marlin can be explained for the above reason?

It might be able to solve the mystery discussed in this thread and remove any suspision of conspiracy.

:D Hey guys! Great Site!

The lands and Grooves will not change that much from just 8 rounds, in fact, you could fire dozens of rounds and (if the bullet doesn't disintergrate) and they would pretty much be the same.

What I would really like to know is why did Butchie throw away a pistol holster into the sewer if it didn't have any connection to the crime?? I'm sure that there was a pistol in it that's probably now still in the Amityville Creek but because it can be thrown farther than the rifle and the police divers were searching in a "shore out" pattern they found the rifle first and probably stopped there, or it was thrown anywhere off the road between Amityville and Brooklyn, heck... it may even be sitting in someones closet in a shoebox right now. Now if you add that colt python to the mix that fires .357 Magnum shells then you have another .35 calibre weapon... food for thought.

***EDIT***
Just noticed how old this thread is, heh heh, not saying that a pistol was fired... just seems odd to me.

I've wondered about that also.

Maybe the holster was wrapped around (or partially stuffed inside of) the rifle scabbard when Ronnie grabbed the scabbard from his room?

The shell casings all came from a rifle. Could a Colt Python have fired rifle shells?

BTW...as always...it's great to see you posting!

I hope all is well with you! ;)

Well I have a .35 Marlin, the bullets if not Big heavy brush busters can be the same grain as a .357 bullet and if properly damaged, can be identical except for the rifling, which like I say "properly damaged". There's no difference between a .44 handgun bullet and a .444 Rifle bullet, only the size of the shell/ammount of powder behind them.

But I agree, eight shots fired, eight freshly spent .35 Remington rounds recovered from the drain. I would just like to know what was going on in his head to throw away the pistol holster, maybe it's just cause it would have caused more questions than he felt like answering so it was easier to throw away.

And thanks,
Doing well.
